This recipe uses the classic Kellogg's Rice Krispie Treat (R) recipe, with the addition of chocolate, to form a large witches hat that you can decorate and share.

piece of sturdy cardboard cut 5 inches square
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 package (about 40) regular marshmallows or 5 cups miniature marshmallows
6 cups crisp rice cereal
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
5 toothpicks
1 cup sweetened flaked coconut
orange food coloring
candy corn
jellied orange slices
1 tube chocolate or orange prepared icing

In large microwave safe bowl, melt butter, chocolate chips, and marshmallows on high for about 2 minutes, stirring after 1 minute. Stir vanilla into mixture until smooth and all marshmallows are melted. Add crisp rice cereal, stirring until well coated. To form the brim of the witches hat, pour two cups of the mixture into a 6-inch circle and press to flatten. Place on the cardboard base. Form the remaining mixture into the top, pointy part of the hat, 4 inches wide at the base and 6 inches tall. Place top on brim, securing with toothpicks. In a small mixing bowl, place coconut. Stir in orange food coloring until coconut is uniformly tinted. Sprinkle brim with coconut, and decorate crown with jellied oranges sliced lengthwise in two and candy corn, secured with prepared icing.
